Navigation
You can open turn-by-turn directions to any pin, route, or area directly from Flaresat.
How to navigate to a map item
- Tap any pin, route, or area on the map (or find it in the Items List)
- In the details panel, tap Navigate
- Flaresat opens your maps app with the destination pre-filled:
| Platform | Behavior |
|---|---|
| iOS | Shows a picker: Apple Maps is always available; Google Maps and Waze appear if installed |
| Android | Opens a geo intent, your default maps app handles it; falls back to Google Maps in browser |
| Web | Opens Google Maps in a new tab |
For routes, navigation goes to the first point of the route (the trailhead), not the geographic center.
Go To Coordinate
The GO TO button in the Command Grid (tap MENU to reveal it) lets you fly the map to any specific latitude/longitude:
- Tap MENU in the command bar
- Tap GO TO
- Enter a latitude and longitude in decimal degrees (e.g.,
37.7749,-122.4194) - Confirm, the map pans and zooms to that location
This navigates the Flaresat map view only, it does not open an external maps app.
note
Coordinates must be in decimal degrees format, DMS (degrees/minutes/seconds) is not accepted. Valid range: latitude −90 to +90, longitude −180 to +180.
Tips
- Navigation hands off to your native maps app, Flaresat does not provide turn-by-turn directions itself
- Coordinates come directly from the item's stored position, so accuracy reflects when the item was created
- For routes that represent a path to follow, navigate to the first point (trailhead), then use the drawn route on the Flaresat map as your guide
