What is Flaresat?
Flaresat is a real-time collaborative mapping app for teams that need to stay coordinated in the field. Whether you're running an event, a search and rescue operation, a hike, or any situation where knowing where your team is matters, Flaresat keeps everyone on the same map.
What you can do​
Drop pins, draw routes, and mark areas
Place annotations on a shared map that every teammate sees instantly. Mark a rally point, outline a search zone, trace a patrol route, it all syncs live. Mention any map item in chat with @item to let teammates tap directly to its location.
See your team's live locations Each member can opt in to share their GPS position. Everyone with location sharing on shows up as a labeled dot on the map in real time. Use Live Share to broadcast your position continuously in the background for up to 8 hours, the map updates even when your screen is off.
Record your GPS track Tap RECORD in the command bar to capture your route as you move. The track builds in real time on your map. When you stop, save it as a shared route that the whole team can see. Works in the background.
Geofence alert zones Draw any area and enable an Alert Zone on it. The moment a teammate crosses the boundary, entering or leaving, everyone gets notified. Works without internet in Radio groups.
Chat in context
Send text messages and voice notes directly inside the app. Mention map items by typing @, teammates tap the mention to jump to that location on their map. Replies, delivery status, and relay indicators keep comms clear.
Work completely off the grid
Connect a LoRa radio device over Bluetooth (running Meshtastic or MeshCore firmware) and create a Radio group that operates with zero internet or cell service. Pins, routes, messages, and location updates travel over the mesh network, potentially miles away. Back up your Radio group to the cloud or export it as a .flaresat file at any time.
Bridge Radio and online teams with Relay Link a Radio group to an online group and all activity syncs automatically in both directions. Mesh teammates and internet-connected teammates share the same map in real time.
Organize multiple groups Create an Organization to group related teams under one workspace. Admins can manage members, attach groups, and control access across the org from one place.

Key concepts​
Groups are the core unit of collaboration. You create a group, invite teammates with a code or QR scan, and everything, the map, chat, and location feed, is shared within that group.
Online groups sync through the internet. Use these when your team has cell or Wi-Fi connectivity. Members have roles (Admin, Member, Viewer) that control permissions.
Radio groups work without any internet connection, using a LoRa radio device (Meshtastic or MeshCore firmware) to relay data over radio waves. All members have equal access, no role restrictions.
Organizations let you nest multiple groups, online or Radio, under a single workspace with shared membership management.
