Create Your First Group

Groups are where everything in Flaresat happens, the shared map, location feed, and chat all live inside a group.

Create a group​

  1. From the home screen, tap the + button

  2. Select Create a group

  3. Choose the group type, this is the first decision:

    TypeWhen to use
    OnlineYour team has cell or Wi-Fi. Syncs over the internet in real time.
    RadioNo internet. Requires a LoRa device running Meshtastic or MeshCore firmware.

  4. Enter a Name, something your team will recognize (e.g., "Trail Run Crew", "Event Staff North")

  5. (Online only) Add an optional Description

  6. Pick an Icon and Color for the group

  7. Tap Create

You'll be taken straight to the group's map. For online groups, you're the group admin by default. Radio groups have no role system, all members have equal access.

Radio groups

For a Radio group you'll need a LoRa device running Meshtastic or MeshCore firmware. See Radio Mode for prerequisites.

Invite your team​

After creating your group, share the invite code with teammates so they can join.

  1. Tap Menu (☰) in the command bar, then tap Settings
  2. Find the Invite code, online codes start with FLS-, Radio codes start with FLT-
  3. Share that code with your team

They can join by going to + → Join a group → entering the code. See Join a Group for the full steps.

Managing multiple groups​

You can be a member of as many groups as you want. The home screen shows all your groups. Tap any group to open its map.

Groups are independent, pins, chat messages, and locations don't cross between groups.
