Organizations
An organization lets you group multiple Flaresat groups under a single workspace. It's built for teams that run more than one operation, a company with multiple departments, an event crew managing several zones, or a club with different activity groups.
Create an organization
- From the home screen, tap the Organizations button
- Tap Create Organization
- Enter a name, pick an icon and color
- Tap Create
You are automatically an Admin of the new organization.
Invite people to your organization
Each organization has its own invite code, prefixed with FLO-.
- Open your organization
- Tap Settings
- Find the Invite Code, copy it or share it directly
To join, teammates go to the home screen → Organizations → Join Organization → enter the FLO- code.
New members join as Viewer by default. An admin can change their role after they've joined.
You can also disable the invite code without regenerating it, useful when you want to temporarily stop accepting new members. Toggle Invite Code off in Settings.
Roles
Every organization member has one of three roles:
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full control, manage members, edit org settings, attach/detach groups, delete the org |
| Member | View the org and all attached groups; intended for active team members |
| Viewer | View the org and all attached groups; read-only access, default when joining via invite code |
The practical difference between Member and Viewer is intent and promotion path, both can currently view the org and its groups, but admins use the Member role to distinguish active participants from stakeholders. Promote a Viewer to Member when you want to signal they're a full team participant.
There is no separate "Owner" role. Any admin has full control. An org must have at least one admin at all times, if you are the only admin, you must promote someone else before you can leave.
Change a member's role
- Open the organization and tap Settings
- Tap the member you want to change
- Select the new role: Admin, Member, or Viewer
Admins cannot change their own role, and cannot remove or demote another admin.
Joining a group from within an organization
When you open an organization, you see all groups attached to it. If you're already a member of a group, tapping it takes you straight to the map. If you're not a member, you'll see a join card showing the group name, description, and member count with a Join button, no separate invite code needed when you're already inside the org.
Attach groups to an organization
Groups don't automatically belong to an organization, an admin must attach them. You must also be an admin of the group itself.
- Open the organization
- Tap Attach Group
- Select one of your existing online groups
- Confirm
Once attached, the group appears inside the organization for all org members to see.
To remove a group from the org, open the group inside the org and tap Detach from Organization. Admins of both the org and the group can do this.
Radio groups in an organization
Radio groups can also be created inside an organization. When you tap the + button inside an org and switch the type to Radio, the new group is associated with that org and appears in the org's RADIO section.
Radio groups inside an org work the same as standalone Radio groups, they're stored on-device, use LoRa mesh, and have no role restrictions. They appear in the org view only for users who have that group on their device.
Remove a member
Admins can remove any Member or Viewer from the organization.
- Open the organization and tap Settings
- Tap the member
- Tap Remove from Organization
Admins cannot be kicked, demote them to Member first, then remove them.
Leave an organization
- Open the organization and tap Settings
- Tap Leave Organization
If you are the only admin, you must promote another member to Admin before leaving.
Delete an organization
Any admin can delete the organization. Attached groups are automatically detached when the org is deleted, they are not deleted themselves.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to the Danger Zone
- Tap Delete Organization
- Confirm, this cannot be undone
Groups that were attached remain intact and are accessible directly from the home screen after the org is gone.
