Voice Notes
Voice notes let you send a quick audio message to your group — faster than typing when you're on the move.
Record and send a voice note
- Open the chat panel
- Press and hold the microphone button (to the left of the text input)
- Speak your message
- Release to send
The voice note is uploaded and delivered to all group members immediately.
Listening to a voice note
Voice notes appear as audio players in the chat feed. Tap the play button to listen. You can pause and resume playback at any time.
Tips
- Voice notes work great when hands are occupied — gloves, driving, carrying gear
- Keep voice notes short and clear — ambient noise (wind, crowd noise) can make long recordings hard to understand
- Members can replay voice notes as many times as needed — useful for instructions that need to be followed precisely
Availability
Voice notes are available on iOS and Android. On web/PWA, playback works in all browsers but recording requires browser microphone permission.
Grant Flaresat microphone access when prompted, or go to your browser/device settings and enable it for Flaresat.
Off-grid voice notes
Voice notes are not supported in off-grid groups. Off-grid communication uses text messages only (LoRa bandwidth isn't sufficient for audio data).
