Cloud Backup & Restore
Off-grid group data lives on your device. If you get a new phone or uninstall the app, that data is gone by default.
Cloud Backup lets you save a snapshot of your off-grid group to the Flaresat cloud so you can restore it later on any device.
Backup and restore require a Flaresat account and an internet connection at the time of backup/restore. The mesh itself still works offline — this feature is just for preserving your group data between sessions or devices.
Back up an off-grid group
- Open the off-grid group's map
- Tap the Settings (gear) icon
- Tap Back up to cloud
- Confirm
Flaresat exports the full group state — all pins, routes, areas, and messages — and uploads it to your account. The backup is timestamped.
Restore an off-grid group
On a new device (or after reinstalling):
- From the home screen, tap +
- Select Restore off-grid backup
- A list of your saved backups appears — each shows the group name and backup date
- Tap the backup you want
- Tap Restore
The group is recreated on your device with all its historical data intact.
Managing backups
In Group Settings → Cloud backups, you can:
- See all saved backups for the current group
- View backup dates and sizes
- Delete old backups you no longer need
