Data Export & Backup
Both Online groups and Radio groups support data export, import, and cloud backup. The mechanism is the same in both cases; the main difference is that Radio group data lives on-device by default, so backup and export are especially important there.
Cloud backup and restore require a Flaresat account and an internet connection at the time of the operation.
Cloud backup
Back up a group
Open the group's map.
Tap Menu (☰) in the command bar, then tap Settings.
Scroll to Cloud Backup.
Tap Backup to Cloud.
Confirm.
Flaresat exports the full group state and saves it to your account. The backup is timestamped with the group name.
Only Admins can back up, restore, export, or import group data.
Restore from a cloud backup
Restore replaces the current group data with the backup:
Open the group's Settings.
Scroll to Cloud Backup.
Tap Restore from Cloud.
A list of your saved backups appears (group name + date).
Tap a backup, then tap Restore.
Confirm, this replaces all current data in the group with the backup.
Manage cloud backups
In Group Settings → Cloud Backup you can:
- See all saved backups with names and timestamps
- Restore any backup
- Delete individual backups you no longer need
File export / import (.flaresat)
For a self-contained backup you can store anywhere (email, Files app, cloud drive):
Export:
- Open Group Settings
- Scroll to Cloud Backup / Export
- Tap Export Group
- Choose where to save or share the
.flaresatfile
Import:
- Open Group Settings
- Tap Import Group (or open the
.flaresatfile from your files app) - The app shows a preview of what will be imported (item counts, group name)
- Confirm, the import replaces all current data in the group

Cloud backups are stored in your Flaresat account and are only accessible with your account credentials. Other group members cannot see your backups.
